Ted Closson, known to the right people as Vinegar Tom, did not spend the first several years of his life as a cat. If asked he will insist he is not reminiscent of any characters in Caryl Churchill’s plays, but won’t argue with you if you insist he thought about slugging Matthew Hopkins on his way out.

He also won’t argue about completing his BA in Art at the University of Maine at Augusta or that he’s currently working towards his MFA in Painting at the University of Houston. He currently lives with his wife in that same city. He is seen mostly by moonlight and at odd hours- smoking a pipe and roaming the streets, but these are not his hobbies. The blog he’s set up on this site is for talking about the work he makes, his process, thoughts on writing and art making and whatever else he feels the need to discuss.
His current projects entail: the drafting of layouts for a short graphic novel titled “The Lorica”, researching materials for future works, learning to talk and write about comics in a way that elevates the medium, extending his woodworking and sculpting skills and occasionally making a painting with real paints instead of digital ones.
When he’s not planning for the end of civilized society, learning to build his own furniture, chasing the house cat named “Squeak” or trying to negotiate through the ungodly congestion of Houston he can be contacted here.
